Dr. Nabi is a prolific writer. He received Ekushey Padak, the 2nd highest national award of Bangladesh for his outstanding contribution to language and literature.  Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina handed over the prestigious award to Dr. Nabi at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka on 20th  February, 2020 in a ceremony attended by ministers, parliament members, and many high officials.

Earlier in 2017,  Dr. Nabi was awarded Bangla Academy Honorary Fellowship for his outstanding contribution to liberation war-related literature. He also received Washington D. C. Boimela Literary Award for his outstanding contribution to liberation war-related literature in 2018.
